St. George gives student pilots something rare: more than 300 flyable days a year, very little precipitation, and red rock terrain that makes every lesson memorable. The airport sits on a mesa above the city, so you get real experience with density altitude, terrain awareness and variable canyon winds. Cross-countries take you toward Zion, Cedar City, Mesquite and the Arizona Strip, and the airspace is quiet enough that students spend their time flying rather than waiting.
We serve students from across Southern Utah and the surrounding region, including St. George, Washington, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Ivins, La Verkin, Cedar City, Kanab, Mesquite and Las Vegas in Nevada, and Page in Arizona.

Southern Utah is one of the best places in the country to build hours quickly:
St. George is home to SkyWest Airlines’ headquarters, which makes it a fitting place to start an airline career through the SkyWest Pilot Pathway. Utah Tech University is just across town, so students can fly with us while working toward a degree.
St. George Regional Airport has a single 9,300-foot runway at about 2,880 feet of elevation. It is a non-towered airport, so you learn to self-announce on the common traffic frequency and fly a disciplined pattern, a skill every professional pilot needs. Students drive to our St. George flight school from Cedar City, Hurricane, Washington, Mesquite and even Las Vegas.
Off the flight line, Zion National Park, Snow Canyon State Park and miles of red rock trails are close by. See more of the area at Greater Zion.

Most full-time students finish their Private Pilot License in three to five months. The FAA sets a 40-hour flight time minimum, and Southern Utah’s mild, dry weather helps students fly consistently all year.
